I’ve Hit my Limit
Sep 3rd
With Rogers, apparently I’ve hit my maximum allowed this month. Sure, I’ve been uploading huge files to YouTube and downloading other things
It’s amazing, as usually I don’t even touch my maximum, let alone get close to it. I’ve seen my usage for the past few years and I rarely get up to 2GB of data transfer…Total!
This has been a busy summer. Tiiu has spurred a whole new set of hobbies, which take up bandwidth. Even sending pics to friends and family I bet gets counted in that total. But Wow….I feel like an Internet Waster…
But don’t fear, I’ll still post.
Happy Birthday, Linda!
Aug 26th
It’s Linda’s Birthday today. If you know Linda, email her and wish her a Happy Birthday. If you don’t know her email, just leave a comment, and I’ll make sure she gets it.
I won’t post what I got for her, as Linda hates surprises and has already bought presents for herself from me.
What a wonderful wife. She’s so thoughtful. The best part is that I know it’s exactly what she wants.
If you’re curious, this is her multiple 21st birthday.
Things that Suck…
Aug 23rd
Well, not really. It’s more of a blog about what we call the pacifier. Linda and I debated whether to use a pacifier or not with Tiiu. There are as many pros as there are cons, so we’ve decided to use it sparingly. We’ve noticed that on evenings, Tiiu gets cranky which
is pretty normal for babies. Apparently it’s a normal thing, as babies have pent up energy that they need to get out, and this is how they do it.
So, we’ve been given a pacifier that is BPA free, made of 100% medical Grade Silicone, which has many fantastic uses. It is the Gumdrop Pacifier, which is pretty neat. It’s once piece, and comes in many colours. It’s supposed to be the better pacifier for babies, but hey…it works.
So, using the pacifier, we didn’t want to call it the names that most people do. Binky seemed strange to us, so did Sookie and other names. Instead, Linda and I brainstormed a few things that we thought sucked and we came up with some things.
Vampires. They definitely suck. They suck blood, and they suck the life out of people to which they grant eternal life. Calling it a ‘Vampire’ was kinda tough…
“Hey Tiiu, want your vampire?”
“Where’s your Vampy?”
Again, I was getting ideas for Buffy, but she’s a Vampire Slayer, and defiantly does not suck.
The Dyson Vacuum – With Cyclone Technology. It sucks. It sucks large and never stops sucking.
James Dyson worked on many modes to make sure his vacuum doen’t stop sucking. But calling the Pacifier, the Dyson, Linda wasn’t down with it.
“Hey Tiiu, want your Dyson? Where’s your Dyson?”
“Are you cranky? Did you lose your Dyson?”
I liked it, But Linda didn’t. So, we kept looking.
Telemarketers. They defiantly suck. But a name that was appropriate didn’t quite work either.
“Hey Tiiu, where’s your Telemarketer?”
“do you want your Telemarketer? Yes, you do!”
No, didn’t work. On a separate note, if the telemarketer looked that this, I think they would not be as hated. (I’m just saying.
Finally, we came up with a name: Linda holds this opinion, but I don’t.
Doogie Howser – Neil Patrick Harris. Linda hated the show Doogie Hoswer. She thought Doogie Howser sucked so much, she still remembers it. She thought it was one of the worst ideas for a show ever. She wanted to call it the Doogie, but I suggested that Doogie Hoswer was really Neil Patrick Harris. There was a movie (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) where they refer to him as NPH. She was quite happy with that, so we’ve been calling the Pacifier, the NPH or The Neil Patrick.
“Where’s your NPH? oh, did it fall on the ground?”
“is Neil Patrick Dirty? we can get the Pink NPH for you?”
For some reason, it works for us, and we now call it the NPH.
I like Neil Patrick, so my apologies to You, Neil…if you do read this. Take it as an honour that you are pacifying our daughter.
Other names that didn’t make it was the Alex Trebek. All because Linda wasn’t a fan of the SNL episodes where Sean Connery would yell out “Suck It, Trebek“….
Again, I like Alex Trebek too. You too, Kebert Xela!
Am I lazy?
Aug 21st
By this, I mean: Do I take the lazy way out of most things in life?
I know of people who seem to choose to do things, but in the most difficult way. I’ve chosen a path that did have a few bumps along the way, but for the most part, I’m quite happy. I
Growing up, I wanted to have a family, and a decent job that I enjoyed. With hard work, I got a job that I love and then I met a wonderful person who I can share a life with. Through that, we’ve obtained a house, and ‘stuff’ that most people collect. We’ve travelled, we’ve experienced different things, good and bad; we’ve grown and we’ve even added, by bringing Tiiu into the world.
But I think this path was generally easy. I mean, i followed the directions and for the most part I got what I wanted.
Now, reflecting upon what I have, I see people who have the same thing, but have worked really hard. Again, that’s good. But some of the paths they have taken seemed to be more difficult.
Is it that I’m lazy or I have Linda to help? Or, maybe Linda is doing all the work, and I think it’s easy.
I dunno.
Y’know, I don’t know where this entry is going.
Getting too much into Video
Aug 20th
As I create more and more videos on (the) Youtube*, I usually sinspire** to convince Linda to let me get some new cool equipment. My brother just got a fancy Nikon D-90. Again, Jasse kinda makes me feel bad because he will email me (or sometimes call!) to say things like this:
Jasse: hey, So, we’re in Italy, having pizza overlooking the mountains. How are you?
Rawlio : hey, I’m good. We’re in line at WalMart. We’re just getting some stuff for home, and it’s cheaper here. How’s the weather?
Jasse: It’s amazing! a nice 20, with a breeze. you?
Rawlio: Seriously? 32, with a humidex of 41. and now the person in front of us is arguing with the cashier.
Jasse: Are you saying this out loud? can they hear you?
Rawlio: Oh yeah. Their Tattoos are bigger than me. and they’re staring. At least they’re not arguing….Um…I have to go
ok, that was a fictional dialogue, but you get the picture. Bottom line, I tell linda that we need a fancy camera, like a Canon Rebel, or even a low-end Nikon, and she give me an optotoxical*** Glare that would scare the Tattooed Woman in the fictional Walmart dialoged above.
Note: Did the new words flow, or did that seem forced? Am I still dunendating poorly?
- optotoxical
- (adj): of or pertaining to poisonous looks that could kill, esp. from a spouse
- sinspire
- (v): to compel one to be creatively wicked
Weekend is here…
Aug 14th
Being on vacation is fun, but I still enjoy the Weekend activities. Even though my weekdays are like weekends, the excitement of Friday night and the disappointment of Sunday evening are still there.
As you can see, I’ve been a bit ‘Video’ crazy, but Linda seems ok with it, so I’m going to continue this trend. I’ve got a few ideas in my head that I’ll do. The cooking ones seem to be good, but those are only for when I’m going to cook that item for dinner that night.
If you have any ideas, feel free to leave a comment for an idea. Be good, please.
Some Cool YouTube Vid…
Aug 12th
I came across some really cool ‘YouTubers.’ They do really cool videos and music on their Youtube Channel. I’ve been following one, iJustine for a while, and then came across DeStorm while checking on my daily dose of stupidness. (this is a phrase that Linda often uses when seeing me on the Internet.)
These two people have some pretty interesting YouTube Channels, and are quite talented. It’s amazing what’s available to people these days and how they utilize the technology to fit their own styles.
Not staying I’m amazing or anything, but I often wonder what i would have done given this technology when I was a teenager. I know for sure I would have had a few videos of music, some skits and most likely a sketch comedy show. Would I have been on Facebook? Y’know, I’m not sure on that one. There were things I chose not to participate in because of the amount of people who said I should. As one moron used to tell me, “Non-conformity is just conforming to the non-conformists.” Again, in High school, this was an attempt at being philosophically subversive. A sad, pathetic attempt, but still, an attempt.
Not getting on a tangent, but that’s still a huge reason I don’t join facebook today. Just because I am ‘supposed’ to. Even reading that all social networking and meeting up with friends hinges on Facebook entries, I still think it’s a load of $#!7.
But back on the Cool YouTube things: So, after my ‘reply to Chris’ on his Spice cupboard, I am faced with what will be my next video. I’ve got a ton ideas, but I’m not sure which one I want to do.
Cooking is one idea, but I’m not sure if that’ll be the one.
In the meantime, suscribe to my YouTube Channel to make me feel special.
An Errand Day..
Aug 4th
We were up early to make an appointment in North York this morning. Luckily, we were able to catch the Yummy IKEA breakfast after, which is always nice. It’s Tiiu’s 2nd meal out, which of course, she slept through. Nevertheless, Linda and I enjoyed ourselves.
As well, I went to the gym, and then I bought some Peaches ‘n Cream Corn. I’m not sure what that means, but it tastes pretty sweet.
Have a happy Long Weekend, Folks…
Jul 30th
It’s the start of the Canadian Summer Long weekend, which is known as Civic Holiday. Civic holiday is just the holiday between Canada Day and Labour day that allows people to have a day off, and enjoy the summer.
Linda, Tiiu and I will be spending our Civic Holiday at home, relaxing and doing stuff around the house. Specifically, Tiiu will be sleeping and eating, whilst Linda and I cater to her every need.
And, I’m editing a new Vlog…The Cooking show!
The Blog…
Jul 19th
What is Rawlio’s world? I know I started this blog as just an experiment to see what I can write. I’m not a great writer but I try. My better posts have been written and edited a few times before they became public.
But every so often i think about redefining the Blog…giving it a direction…a purpose.
I know all good blogs and such have a specific purpose, which mine does not.
A good blog is consistently updated for readers to read posts. Mine isn’t.
A good blog has to be meaningful for it’s readers. Mine..not so much.
It’s more of my little experiment with my own self. I’ll have thoughts and ideas that i post as a web-based soliloquy. maybe that’s what the title should be.
Suppressing Intelligence was an idea from Linda. It’s nice to have input from people who care about you,but sometimes these ideas must be placed in the ‘suggestion box.’
I know that I’ve even done some podcasts, which I’ll post sometime soon. i’m not sure if I want too, as the podcasts take up space on my server. I can upload videos to YouTube, which they host the videos…but podcasts? I need to find someone to keep ‘em…
Or, I only have on hand, a couple at a time.
Who knows? Experimenting continues.
