Just a neat Quote…
Jul 26th
So, before I get to the quote, I’ll explain a bit of the background of this:
Often, I get into arguments or discussions with people about the homeopathic ideas and even what is good for you. Some people do believe that if a scientist or a laboratory has created something to be be better, it’s not really because it’s not ‘natural’. Even the word ‘Organic’ doesn’t seem to mean what it supposed to mean.
To me, ‘natural’ means that something has been created in Nature, not with any interference from humankind. This is from an Oxford Dictionary. I can agree that ‘Natural’ does mean unaltered by humans. Genetically Modified foods can be seen as ‘un-natural’ but still pretty good for us.
With ‘Organic‘, it is derived from living matter. I even can remember that an ‘organic’ substance has Carbon in it, but this may not necessarily be correct. Anyway, Organic means to be from living matter.
When I hear the word ‘Organic’ meat, I wonder what would constitute ‘inorganic meat’. Much to the chagrin of people, our Beloved mystery meat found in hot Dogs would be considered Organic.
I’ll keep going.
So, some people wish to reject some medicines or even substances that can help them, because they are not ‘natural’. Apparently only things that are natural are good. When we read the ingredients of a food item, often we cannot pronounce the ingredients. Yes, sometimes there are some nasty-sounding things in processed foods, but they are necessary for the creation of that food. Because of someone’s ignorance, it doesn’t mean it’s not bad for them.
But getting back to Natural, if it’s Natural, the belief is that it is good. Cyanide is natural, but it’s something I choose not to ingest.
so, the quote comes from an article about the ‘Pure Milk’ movement, and how many people argue that unpasteurized milk is good for you. here is the quote:
After a dairy in Washington state was linked to an E. coli outbreak last December, the farmer himself put it like this in an interview with the Seattle Times. Scientists were wrong to malign his milk because “everything God designed is good for you.”
It seems an odd conclusion to draw from an outbreak of Escherichia Coli O157: H7, an organism dangerous enough to kill people by causing complete renal failure. I wish someone would explain the logic that leads to the conclusion that this apparently divine infection is actually “good for you.”
I have to agree to this. If ‘natural’ things were so, why do we like the small pox vaccine? Why are we ok with the polio vaccine? Why do we wash our hands? Naturally, there was not ‘soap’ for us to use?
Just a thought.
